Blackpool Music School Open Day
Mr John Shaw and Mr Jim Lomas formed Blackpool Music School, in 2006. Its purpose is to offer the community of Blackpool and the Fylde, the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument at a minimal cost.
Since its humble beginnings working out of a church hall in Bispham, we have raised over £360.000 in funds, which has enabled them to build a high quality teaching facility, which is fully equipped with all the musical instruments required. The school delivers quality musical lessons at affordable prices this is available for all in the community
Our latest development, which was featured on Granada reports and was opened by the Lady Mayoress of Blackpool, Amy Cross, is there disability tutor room; this room offers a level surface, which gives easy access for wheel chair users.
The recent development features a green screen which is used as backdrops in chroma key photography, this is a process that replaces a solid-coloured background from behind the subject of a photo (or video) with a new background
Also featured in this room is a storey and clark baby grand piano which was donated from a sponsor in America
The room also doubles as a recording studio
Our staff are a collection of talented, dedicated professional instructors and musicians who combine a love of music with a desire to help others, who want to achieve their highest musical potential. That passion shows in all that they do.
We offer group sessions and one-one sessions at the school, as well as one-one sessions in your own home if you are unable to attend through a disability
The range and style of music is amazing – From Bach to Black Eyed Peas, from George Gershwin to Lady Ga Ga…
The membership that they offer are affordable due to the fact that they are a non for profit charity, and the memberships are available for all ages “As quoted by their founder Mr John Shaw “You are never too old to Learn”
The school provide a variety of different musical sessions, including keyboard, saxophone, drums, ukulele, vocals, music theory, guitar and many more.
As a charity, we are a non-for profit organisation and there are no fees, being a charity we have a membership charge only
The school would like to say a big thank you to all their sponsors who without their help the school would not be able to develop, and serve the community
